Gemäß alter Tradition bekommen die Sieger der drei letzten Kämpfe eines Basho ein paar Pfeile, eine Bogensehne und einen Bogen (in dieser Reihenfolge) überreicht. Der Bogen ist derjenige, den man nach Abschluss jeden Tages bei der Bogenschwingzeremonie sieht, die Sehne bleibt im Verborgenen, nur die Pfeile sorgen jedesmal für Stirnrunzeln bei den Unkundigen.
