If you haven't noticed yet, Wakanoyama's Intai has been quietly posted on the Kyokai page since before the basho, and was formally announced in a press conference yesterday. Doubtless many traditionalist Japanese fans (and many others as well) will be sorry to see him go, with his head-down, dogged pushing attack. I kept expecting him to pull himself back together and make a return to Makuuchi, but it seems time has caught up with the hairiest-backed Sekitori. He already has an Oyakata name reserved, but I forget what it was.
